Friends of Cathedral Music Grant
The Project Management Team for the Cathedral Development Programme 2020 is delighted to announce a substantial grant to St Andrew’s Cathedral from the Friends of Cathedral Music. The Council of the FCM has approved a capital grant of £5,000 towards purchase of a piano, a revenue grant of £5,000 towards the salary of the Director of Music and a further grant of £5,000 from FCM’s Diamond Fund for Chorister vocal tuition, financial support for choristers to join the choir tour and support for the chorister outreach programme.
A symbolic presentation of the cheque from FCM will be made by Mr Peter Smith, FCM Assistant Grants Secretary, at a special Choral Evensong on Sunday the 28th of October at 4pm. Please come along then to show your appreciation.
Very briefly, the FCM is a charity founded in 1956 with the purpose:
To Sustain our priceless heritage of cathedral music and support a living tradition.
To increase public knowledge and appreciation of that heritage and tradition.
To encourage high standards in choral and organ music.
To raise money by subscriptions, donations, and legacies for choirs in need.
During October we will display more information in the Cathedral in order to inform worshippers and visitors about FCM and its work.
