The Cathedral Choir comprises of trebles (boy and girl choristers of school age) lay clerks (adult altos, tenors and basses) and Choral Scholars from the University of Aberdeen and the Robert Gordon University. The choir sings at the main Sunday Services during school term time – Sung Eucharist at 10.45 am and Choral Evensong at 6.30 pm. The choir is supplemented by six choral scholars who sing alternately morning and evening services. Trebles meet on Thursday evenings for Book Work i.e. learning the theory and practice of singing in a Choir. They also have rehearsals after Book Work on Thursday evenings and the adults prior to each service.
During the Summer months, members of the Cathedral Choir visit churches in the North East of Scotland both within the Diocese and also other historic places like the Haddo House.
Choral Singing is a formation of a person in learning the skills of reading music and using the voice to sing what is written.
