The Cathedral also hosts a range of vibrant and exciting concerts. The weekly, Saturday, ‘Cathedral at noon’ recital services has run continuously for 11 years, encompassing an eclectic mix of musical genres. The series has strong links with Aberdeen University, frequently showcasing new student talent from the University Music Department. The audience are able to meet the performers over an informal buffet lunch afterwards. The Cathedral hosts larger scale concerts on an ad-hoc basis. These have recently included a reconstruction of the Venetian liturgy of Vespers for the Feast of the Annunciation, performed by Con Anima Chamber Choir and Orchestra and conducted by Professor Andrew Morrisson, and the World Premier performance of ‘Arctic Elegy’, composed and conducted by the then Assistant Organist, Ed Jones.
